Cops had orchestrated the Patiala House Courts attack: Sisodia

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday alleged that Delhi Police had “orchestrated” the February 17 incident at the Patiala House Courts complex in which Kanhaiya Kumar and journalists were beaten up and demanded action against police chief B S Bassi.

Sisodia’s accusations came after Kanhaiya told a Supreme Court-appointed lawyers’ probe panel that he was beaten up by men in lawyers’ robes before the police, video of which was aired on TV channels on Saturday.

“Delhi Police was only partner in the whole incident that day and did nothing to prevent the attack at the Pataila House court complex...Police orchestrated the incident,” Sisodia said.

Refering to a report submitted to the court over the incident, he said, 800 police personnel were

present at the time of the incident in which women journalists were also misbehaved with.

“Despite deployment of 800 cops at the court complex, how could such an incident take place? In the video, senior police officers of New Delhi Range are being seen but they are doing nothing to prevent this incident,” Sisiodia alleged.

“What action has Bassi taken against these police officers?...Action should be taken against Bassi before his retirement,” he said.
