Cops going easy on deceased’s boyfriend?

Two days after a journalist, against whom an extortion case was recently registered, allegedly committed suicide in Faridabad on Sunday night, it seems that the Faridabad Police is going easy with her boyfriend who is an Inspector. His sudden transfer from Faridabad to Panchkula has also raised questions.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against three doctors including the couple who had claimed that Pooja Tiwari, the journalist, was demanding Rs 2 lakh as extortion amount against a sting. A case under the charges of abetment to suicide has been registered at Sector-46 police station against Dr Anil Goel, his wife — Dr Archana Goel and Dr Dhawal Singh (whose sting was conducted by the journalist).

On Tuesday, a voice call recording between Pooja and his friend Bharat Gupta was accessed by Millennium Post. The call was made by Pooja at around 12.30 am, barely few minutes before Pooja allegedly committed suicide by jumping off from the fifth floor of her apartment. In the conversation, Pooja was asking Bharat about a boy and her relationship with him. The call was on speaker mode and in the meantime, Amit, who was posted at Police Lines in Faridabad, intervened and raised questions on her character. Amit was with Pooja during the telephonic conversation and the duo had a fight.

Meanwhile, her neighbour, Usha, claimed that Amit and Pooja had done a secret marriage and Pooja had shown her the photographs on the phone. “Pooja was not depressed. But she was being tortured by Amit who used to beat her and abuse her,” Usha said.

Sources claimed: “Almost one year ago, Pooja tried to commit suicide by slitting her wrist allegedly because of Amit. In the mid-way, Amit stopped the ambulance and thrashed the driver and shifted Pooja in his car and rushed her to a private hospital. Next day, the drivers union carried out a protest that was later called off allegedly after police pressure.” It is worth mentioning in one of her statuses on Facebook in December she wrote: “Ya toh khudkhushi karlo ya pyaar (Either commit suicide or love someone)”. Meanwhile, within 24 hours, the family members of Pooja have changed their version about Amit. Earlier they were alleging that Amit is behind the incident while on Tuesday they claimed that Amit is innocent.
