The Delhi Police solved a blind murder case within 24 hours by arresting two men in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found in the Bhagirathi Vihar Pulia area in North-east Delhi’s Gokulpuri on Friday. The accused have been identified as Prince and Amit.
According to the police, on February 18 at around 4.35 pm, they got a PCR call that an unidentified body is lying on the roadside.
On inspection, it was found that the man’s face was disfigured and blood stain samples were picked up by the crime team. Police also found a visiting card and with its help traced the man’s residence to Alipur. After sustained efforts of the local intelligence, the deceased was identified as Neeraj Jha.
A case was registered at the Gokulpuri police station under relevant sections of the IPC against unknown persons.
“During investigation, police questioned Jha’s wife who revealed that he went to attend a marriage function with a friend, Prince. Prince was subsequently apprehended and interrogated at length. During interrogation, he broke down and revealed the names of Anuj and Amit. He admitted that Anuj approached him to eliminate Neeraj and gave him Rs 5,000 to assist him. Since Anuj was having an extra marital affair with Neeraj’s wife, he had a scuffle with Neeraj a week back and planned to take revenge,” said a senior police official.
“As per Anuj’s plan, Neeraj accompanied Prince to attend a wedding in Karawal Nagar where all four had liquor.
The accused then took Neeraj to a secluded spot where they first attacked him with a stone and smashed his face till he could not be identified,” added the official.
