Cops bust inter-state weapon supply racket, 3 nabbed

A team from special cell has busted a major inter-state chain of supply of Munger-made sophisticated firearms with the arrest of Allauddin Malik, 37, Gayasuddin, 26, and Muhammad Kalam, 42.
‘Eight pistols (four each of 0.32 mm bore and 0.9 mm bore) along with 16 magazines have been recovered,’ said a police officer.
The Commissioner of Police, Delhi, had ordered for an in-house study into the growing use of sophisticated firearms over the previous four to five years in Delhi.
‘The study revealed that in most of the cases, it was illicit firearms manufactured in Munger in Bihar, which were being smuggled into Delhi by organised criminal gangs based in Meerut, Kanpur, and Allahabad had been used,’ said a police official.
Alerted by these revelations, specific tasking was done to trace, locate and apprehend such organised criminal rackets.
‘The team from special cell worked diligently by deploying informers in and around Meerut, Baghpat and other places in UP and specifically in Munger in Bihar,’ he added.
‘On the basis of information, we arrested Gayasuddin, native of Sahibgunj, Bihar, when came near the Jhilmil Metro station to deliver a consignment of firearms brought from Munger to Allauddin, anative of Meerut in UP,’ added the police officer.
The police later arrested Muhammad Kalam. Four pistols of 0.9 mm bore and 4 pistols of 0.32 mm bore along with 16 empty magazines were recovered from their possession.
‘The special cell team is camping in Munger, in Bihar and conductingraids at several places to find out the source of manufacture of the weapons seized in Delhi,’ said a senior police officer.
