Delhi Police busted a gang of drug traffickers with the arrest of two persons at the New Delhi Railway station. Police have recovered 16 kg of contraband (ganja) worth Rs 15 lakh from their possession. The accused have been identified as Lilu Singh and Sunaya Mandal.
According to the police, on July 1 at around 2.45 pm, cops on patrolling duty at the New Delhi Railway station found that two youth were sitting near a gate at the Ajmeri Gate side. When police approached them, they tried to flee but were overpowered by the cops.
“During checking, police found 8 kg of contraband each from both the accused,” said a senior railway police officer. “During interrogation, the duo revealed that they transported contraband drugs from Odisha to Delhi. Singh got in touch with one Shrikant who lured him to transport drugs to Delhi and give them to one person Rajesh. Belonging to a poor background, Lilu allured Sunaya to get in the drug peddling gang and both started working for Shrikant and Rajesh,” said the officer.
“While waiting to give the contraband to Rajesh, police caught them,” he added. A case under relevant sections has been registered and police are trying to trace Rajesh and Shrikant.
