Cops arrest two in separate rape cases

On Sunday, two incidents of rape have been reported in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area. In both the cases, the accused have been arrested by the Delhi police within few hours of the complaint lodged by the victims.

In the first incident, a 14-year-old girl was raped a 24-year-old man in a farmhouse near Ghaoti village. The farmhouse belongs to a Jagdesh Yadav. Yadav employees reside in the farmhouse. The victim is the daughter of one of employees and the accused the son of another employee.

According to the victim, last week Raj Kumar, the accused, raped her when no one was there at the farmhouse. When she told her father, he had apparently complained to Yadav about the incident.

But  both the families had come to a compromise on Yadav’s assurance that it won’t happen again.

But on Sunday, finding the girl alone again, Kumar again tried to rape her, but she managed to escape. Further, she made a PCR call and informed the police about the incident. ‘The cops took her for medical examination, which confirmed rape. A case under section-376(rape) of Indian Penal Code has been registered against Raj Kumar who was later arrested from the farmhouse,’ said a police official investigating the matter.

In another incident, a 21-year-old woman was raped by her neighbour two months ago. ‘Since then he was threatening her with dire consequences if she complained against him,’ the victim told the police. On Sunday, when victim’s mother was away, finding her alone, Khem Chand, 23, the accused, entered her house and tried to rape her. But the victim’s mother came home unexpectedly and caught him red-handed.

Later, the medical examination confirmed rape and Khem Chand was arrested and has been booked under appropriate sections of Indian Penal Code.

DRUNK WOMAN RETRACTS RAPE CHARGE ON SOBERING UP

A woman, who was found drunk by PCR van personnel early Monday, alleged that she was raped by a man. She retracted her statement on regaining sobriety later, the police said.

The 27-year-old woman flagged down a Police Control Room (PCR) van around 3.30 am on Monday and told the police that she was raped by an unidentified man who had dragged her into his car when she was going to her house in west Delhi’s Mangolpuri, said a police officer.

‘The woman was roaming around drunk. She was taken to west Delhi’s Mianwali Nagar police station to register her statement. But when she got sober, she retracted her statement,’ the officer added.

‘On seeing the PCR van, the woman concocted the rape story to avoid questioning,’ said the officer.
