Cops arrest two auto lifters, eight vehicles recovered

Delhi police has solved four auto-lifting cases with the arrest of two interstate auto lifters. Eight stolen vehicles have also been recovered.
The accused have been identified as Arif, 26, an auto lifter and Pappu Yadav, 36, who would receive the stolen vehicles.
'With the increase in auto lifting cases in the southern district, a team was formed to prevent such crimes and nab the criminals', Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police said.
Specific information had been received that Arif would dispose a stolen vehicle near Gargi College via Siri Fort Road. Accordingly a trap was laid and Arif was apprehended along with a stolen Santro car on 1 March. The car had been stolen from Lajpat Nagar.
On interrogation Arif confessed that he, along with his partners Jamalludin and Shahun, both from Haryana and another partner Kunwar, who is from Agra, were involved in several auto thefts. He had also disclosed the name of a stolen vehicle receiver, Pappu Yadav from Badhyun, U.P. and he was also apprehended on 3 March. 'Based on his statement, two Santro cars, one Tata Indigo, one Wagon R and four Bolero jeeps have been recovered from different parts of Haryana.
