Cops arrest driver for roadrage

In yet another incident of roadrage, a few occupants of a car tried to overtake two cops who were on patrol duty on their motor cycle. The incident took place late Wednesday in Mayur Vihar.

The driver of the car has been arrested by the Delhi police. However, other passengers managed to escape.

‘The car used in the crime incident had a red beacon,’ a police official said.

The accused has been identified as Mukesh alias Mukhia Gurjar. According to the police, the accused has reportedly contested for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in 2008.

The victims have been identified as  Ravi Rathi posted as sub inspector and constable Kuldeep. During the incident the cops were on patrolling.

According to police, mid way of their patrolling, when they had reached main market road, they heard somebody honking incessantly.  But as the road was very narrow, the cops could not make a way for them.The assialants then tried to overtake their bike but they failed. In a fit of rage, they then rammed their car into the bike that the cops were on.

After hitting the bike the accused came out of the car and thrashed the cops. Noticing the scuffle some other cops reached the spot. Seeing the cops, one of the accused managed to escape while another was apperehended.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

‘A case under various appropriate sections of Indian penel code has been registered against the accused. Along with the IPC they have also been booked for misuse of  the red beacon,’ the officer added.
