Cop shot dead while on duty

On Monday night, a 49-year-old head constable of Kanjhawla police station was shot dead by an unidentified man during a routine vehicle check.

HC Ramkishan was shot dead while he was inspecting a car in the Nangloi area of west Delhi alongwith constable G  K Siddaia. The night checking officer SI Khazan and HC (DVR) Bijender were also present at Jonty Kannoda Toll Tax.

‘At about 2.25 am, a car came from the direction of Jonty village. After checking the rear seat passengers, HC Ram Kishan asked the person sitting beside the driver to come out. Instead of getting down, he took a pistol  out.’

Apparently, Ram Kishan managed to snatch the pistol from him, and the driver began reversing his car. In order to stop and apprehend them, Ram Kishan caught hold of the window of the car.

The car occupants then shot at the head constable and managed to flee from the scene.

Ram Kishan was rushed to the Braham Shakti Hospital where he was declared dead.

Ram Kishan served for Delhi Traffic, Security, New Delhi, south, west, north-west and outer districts. He was also rewarded with Asadharan Karya Puraskar (AKP) in 2003.

The head constable is survived by his wife and two sons – Neeraj, 22, and Dhiraj, 20.
