Cop shoots self with service pistol

A 29-year-old Delhi Police constable shot himself at a police booth situated on the Roshnara road of North Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi area on Wednesday. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Kailash. The incident took place at around 10 am. Preliminary investigation suggests that Kailash, a native of Rajasthan, returned from leave two days back.
According to a senior police official, “He went on leave on May 30. After he returned he was posted at the police booth for duty. He told his colleagues that he was going to get his uniform and locked himself in the booth.” Police got to know about the incident at around 3 pm.
“We found that Kailash had shot himself in the forehead with his service pistol. He has been shifted to the nearest morgue for post-mortem,” added the senior police official.
Police are carrying investigation under Sections 176 of CrPC (Inquest Proceedings). The reason behind the suicide is yet to be established. A 2010 batch pass out, Kailash was posted as the PSO for a witness in a murder case on the orders of the court. He is survived by his wife and two children.
