Cop nabbed for taking bribe from liquor smugglers

A Delhi Police official from the Crime Branch was allegedly arrested for taking <g data-gr-id="17">bribe</g> from the owner of the car which was carrying illicit liquor from Haryana to Delhi.

The incident occurred in the intervening night of August 24 and 25 around 2.45 am in North-west Delhi’s Mahendra Park area.

On their duty, the SHO of the police patrol staff spotted a Santro car near Jahangirpuri metro station. 

Three men were standing outside the car while two others were seated inside.The police questioned the people and discovered that an official of the Crime Branch, ASI Tejvir was involved in the smuggling of liquor from Haryana. 

The Crime Branch official had intercepted the car near Mukundpur petrol pump and demanded a sum of Rs 3 lakh from Mr Hasrat to release the driver, Rinku, carrying illicit liquor. 

Constable Jagbir of Crime Branch, Rohini and Head Constable Narender of Delhi Excise Department were also present with Tejvir.
