Cop held for taking bribe

A Delhi Police sub-inspector, attached to the Crime Branch, has been arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from a man for not implicating his brother-in-law in a case, CBI said on Wednesday. Sub-inspector Dinesh Dahiya was probing the role of one of the complainant’s relatives in a criminal case, a CBI spokesperson said, adding that the cop demanded a bribe of Rs 15 lakh for not framing the complainant’s brother-in-law in the same case. ‘He agreed to take Rs three lakh as the first instalment. After registration of a case, a trap was laid by CBI. Dahiya was arrested while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 3 lakh from the complainant,’  the spokesperson said. An amount of Rs 4.25 lakh has also been recovered besides the documents pertaining to the acquisition of properties and investments made by the police officer, the spokesperson added.
