A 50-year-old man has allegedly killed himself after killing his wife and his four-year-old daughter at their residence in South-east Delhi’s Okhla area on Thursday. During preliminary investigation it seems that financial crisis was the reason behind this extreme step.
On Friday morning at around 10.50 am, police received a call informing about the bodies found inside a house in Okhla Phase-1, Sanjay Colony area. A police team along with senior officials reached the spot and found the door bolted from inside.
According to police, when the door was broke open Mahesh (50) was found lying motionless on the floor and froth was coming out of his mouth. A poison bottle was also found lying near his body which has been taken into possession. Whereas, his wife — Ranjana Singh (30) — was found in a pool of blood with a deep wound on her head. A wooden plank with blood stain marks was found near her body. However, their four-year-old daughter Lakshmi was found strangled.
“No suicide note was found from the residence. The FSL team were examining the crime scene till late Friday and samples have been sent for examination,” a police official close to investigation said.
During investigation it was learnt that Mahesh was a cook and used to cook food in weddings or other events while his wife used to work in a factory in Okhla. For last three months, Mahesh was jobless and was suffering from financial crisis.
According to sources it was also learnt that Mahesh was the owner of the house where their bodies were found and he had given the first floor on rent. Almost a year ago, Ranjana had given Rs 2.80 lakh to her younger brother to buy a trackor but he failed to return the debt. For the last few days, the couple were having heated arguments over the loan.
“The exact cause of their death would be ascertained after the post-mortem examination. Meanwhile several teams have been formed to investigate the case from all plausible angles. A case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Okhla police station,” the official added.
