Construction waste plant comes up at Shastri Park

The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) on Sunday started its much-awaited Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste plant at Shastri Park.
MP Manoj Tiwari, who was present on the occasion, appreciated the EDMC for setting up the plant, which will put a check on air pollution and ensure proper disposal of construction waste. He said information about this plant would be shared in the Lok Sabha in the Zero Hour this session.
EDMC Mayor Harsh Malhotra said the plant has been developed through public-private-partnership (PPP) model, in collaboration with M/S IL&FS, over an area of 2.5 acres. The plant has been developed at a cost of Rs 20 crore.
He added the plant was completed in over eight months, while the trial run was going on for the past three months. The Mayor informed that the private partner would run it for 15 years and then it would be transferred to the Corporation. a success, Malhotra said the plant would recycle approximately 500 MT debris daily.
