Construction of more than one unit on a plot will not be considered sub-division: DDA

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has informed that the construction of more than one flat, shop and dwelling units on one floor on a plot will not be treated as sub-division of the plot, wherein construction on such units have been made after getting due approval from the concerned local body and as per sanctioned building plan.

Therefore, in cases of construction on plots, where the building plan of the plot has been sanctioned or approved by the local body concerned for construction on one floor as a multi-storey housing and commercial complex, the conversion into free hold will be allowed.

The DDA informed that earlier though floor-wise conversion was being allowed but during the implementation of the policy, it was observed that there was some confusion as to whether or not conversion can be allowed in cases, where more than one dwelling unit has been constructed on a floor and if such a construction was to be treated as a sub-division of the plot.

“It is therefore clear that construction of more than one dwelling units on a plot, where the plan has been duly sanctioned will not be treated as a sub-division of plot and conversion will be allowed,” said a DDA official.
