Constable suspended for refusing to pay for dinner

A 32-year-old police constable has been suspended for allegedly creating a ruckus at a dhabba in east Delhi and threatening the owner with his service revolver who asked him to pay the food bill on Monday night.
At around 11.30 pm, Aakash Singh, the constable went to the dhabba named Jain Dhabba at Jheel Chowk and had dinner. When the waiter on instructions of the owner of the eating joint asked him to pay the bill, he refused. Singh is a regular at the dhabba and frequently visited the place for dinner after work but he never pay the bill for the food he ate, a police official said.
On Monday, when he refused to pay the bill, Jain made a call to the police control room and reported the incident.
When a police team reached the spot, Jain narrated the incident and alleged that Singh had beaten him up and threatened him to shoot him with his service revolver. He further complained that Singh never used to pay for the food since the past few months. A police official said, ‘Singh was detained from the dhabba and was a medical examination was conducted to confirm whether he was in an inebriated state or not. But the reports ruled out the suspicion and it was found that he was not under the influence of alcohol.’
‘We have suspended the accused constable posted at Gandhi Nagar police station till pending enquiry and an investigation is being carried out,’ a senior police official said.
