Consider cops’ attitude towards women for promotion: MHA

In the wake of alleged misbehaviour with a woman by a policeman in Delhi, the Centre has asked all states to take strict action against anyone in uniform who show discourtesy towards women and that their attitude towards women would be a factor to their promotions. In an advisory, the Home Ministry told all states that police must register an FIR upon the receipt of information of the commission of a cognisable offence. “Strict action should be taken against police personnel who exhibit discourtesy or bias against women or neglect their supervisory responsibilities. <g data-gr-id="16">Attitude</g> of police personnel towards women should be considered for their posting or promotions,” it read.
