Cong’s ‘Jan Aakrosh’ march leads to traffic snarls

On Monday, after directions from the Congress leadership, thousands of Delhi Congress workers, led by DPCC president Ajay Maken, took out a “Jan Aakrosh March” from Mandi House to Parliament House to protest against the poorly planned and executed demonetisation drive. Traffic was also affected due to the demonstrations.

Delhi Traffic Police had closed Sansad Marg due to demonstration that led to traffic snarls in the connecting roads where traffic was diverted without prior directions.

An unending stream of Congress workers and common people gathered and carried out protest from Mandi House to Parliament Street. The participants in the Jan Aakrosh March, the youth, women and the old; expressed their anguish and anger.

The senior traffic police officials claimed that there were around 800 protestors and the demonstration had not led to any major traffic jam in the New Delhi district. However, the senior officers maintained that the traffic was major at Barakhamba Road but only for a few minutes.

It is worth mentioning that traffic movement is always affected in the New Delhi district as majority of these protests take place there.
