Congress sets date for reshuffle

There has been a buzz in the political circles for a while that the Congress will for a big reshuffle of the union cabinet after the monsoon session of Parliament. Millennium Post has learnt that the party has finalised the dates for this exercise that is most likely to see the general secretary Rahul Gandhi take up a portfolio. A source in the party said that the reshuffle would most likely take place either on 14th or 15th September.

Apart from the dates, the source said that at least one cabinet minister may lose his job. 'The ongoing monsoon session of Parliament ends on 7 September. The rejig in the cabinet will most probably be finalised by a week after this. The party's top bosses have indicated that the steel minister Beni Prasad Verma is on the way out,' sources in the party revealed.

With the induction of Gandhi in the union cabinet, some new permutations and combinations may take place in the cabinet. Many young leaders considered close to him are likely to be promoted. The source, who is close to Gandhi, said 'With the ascent of Rahul Gandhi, even his close affiliates' profiles, like those of Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sachin Pilot, are expected to be upgraded. Most likely, they will get the post of minister of state with independent charge.'
