Congress in Maharashtra released its manifesto for the 2014 elections on Thursday with promises of better government, increased development, justice in the social and other spheres — especially for the weaker sections of society, while highlighting its successes in fulfilling promises made in the last election manifesto.
Ex-chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said the Congress was number one in promoting social justice and would continue this effort in future. Other efforts of the Maharashtra government included: Inclusive growth in Maharashtra and making it a knowledge economy for all those interested in promoting the state’s growth in all spheres of activity for which the major theme was ‘Roti, Kapda aur Makaan’, He said.
‘We have fulfilled many things we promised in our last manifesto without letting down anybody and now we are making the RTI stronger, besides increasing job coverage under the Rajiv Gandhi Yojna from 1.5 lakhs to 2.5 lakhs and ensuring adequate education and training for self-entrepreneurs,’ he said while also highlighting a ‘Drought Aversion Fund’ to provide relief in times of drought in the state.
