Cong says law has taken its course

Hailing the verdict, Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that the party respect the ruling of a special court convicting Lalu Prasad in the fodder scam.

The ruling Congress party also said that law has taken its own course.

Though the party chose to steer clear of questions on future alliance with RJD. ‘It’s too early to say what impact it will have on alliance in Bihar and Jharkhand. We cannot say anything on what will happen about alliance,’ party communication department chief Ajay Maken told reporters.

While on a different note senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh came to the rescue of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and expressed his hope that the tainted Bihar leader would prove his innocence.

Expressing his dismay Digvijay Singh said, ‘Sad that he is found guilty, he has been framed, sure he’ll provide evidences & prove his innocence. He has been a trusted and an old partner of the Congress Party.’

Reacting on the conviction of the RJD chief, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said that one should not be greedy even for a day as it may ruin one’s future.
