The state unit of the Congress party is planning on replacing some sitting MPs. The party has decided to seek applications for five Delhi Lok Sabha seats, except North East Delhi and New Delhi constituencies.
For these two seats, candidates will be selected on the basis of ‘primaries’. The experiment will allow grassroots workers to choose their candidates for upcoming general elections.
Mukesh Sharma, a senior Congress party leader, said that in all other five Parliamentary constituencies, aspirants have been asked to send their applications by 28 February.
