Cong gives ticket to son of '84 riots main accused

In 2009, under public pressure, the Congress party had barred Kumar (along with Jagdish Tytler, also accused in anti-Sikh riots cases), from contesting Lok Sabha elections.

This is not the first time when the party has given ticket to the kin of its tainted leaders to generate sympathy wave and win voter support.

Earlier, on 9 November, Rajasthan Congress, in its third list, allotted tickets to relatives of tainted ministers who are in jail despite Rahul Gandhi’s order that election tickets will be given to people only with clean image.

The party allotted a ticket to a  Amri Devi, mother of Congress legislator Malkhan Singh, who is in jail in connection with Bhanwari Devi murder case, from Rajasthan’s Luni constituency. Another tainted Rajasthan minister Babulal Nagar’s younger brother Hajari Lal Nagar, who is the zilla parishad head and does not have a clean image also, has got a ticket from the party.
