Cong fields leaders from Bihar to woo migrant votes

The team, headed by Bihar Congress Pradesh Committee president Ashok Choudhary, has been assigned to bring poorvanchali electorates into their fold. The team, having 50-odd leaders, comprises of state-level and district-level office-bearers.

‘We are working in tandem with Delhi leaders to garner maximum support for the party. Working in odd hours to convince electorates as in Delhi, most of the voters are working and they are not available during day time’, said Choudhary.

He added that the leaders from Bihar are campaigning in the constituencies of Ballimaran, Timarpur, Patparganj, Sangam Vihar, Palam, Dwarka and Kirari, where migrant voters could be game changers.
Former Bihar minister Vijay Shankar Dubey, who is leading a poll campaign in Palam constituency, said, ‘We are confident that migrant voters will support us in wresting the seat from BJP. Congress candidate Vinay Mishra will win from here with huge a margin.’

Defending Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government, Bihar Congress chief said, ‘No doubt, inflation is a poll plank in this election, but it’s not going to effect the voters. In comparison to the BJP government, when onions were sold at Rs 100 per kg, the prices of vegetables have not touched that mark.’

Dismissing the recent poll surveys, Choudhary added that he is very much confident of Congress getting majority. Bihar Congres vice-presidents Brijesh pandey, Parveen Kushwaha and Shakil-ul Rehman are camping in the national capital for the last four days and visiting the areas dominated by poorvanchalis.
Kumar Ashis, who is leading a team of youth wing of Bihar Congress, is campaigning in the constituencies of Dwarka, Patparganj, Sangam Vihar and Kirari. ‘Poorvanchalis form a whopping 35 per cent of Delhi’s population. While the percentage in the North East Delhi constituency is highest with nearly 45 per cent, in the other six constituencies it varies between 30 per cent to 35 per cent.
Uttam Nagar in West Delhi with close to 40 per cent has their highest concentration of Poorvanchali voters,’ said Sanjeev Singh, the spokesperson of Bihar Congress.
