Cong councillors’ claim misuse of land, want GK-I project to be dropped

The congress councillors lead by Virender Kasana demanded that the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (South MCD) should scrap the officers flats project being developed in Greater Kailash-I. The councillors alleged that the flats are being built on an open land, which is an undeveloped park and is used by locals during Durga Puja, Diwali Mela, marriage ceremonies and other festivals.

‘The project is against the welfare of local residents who use the park for various celebrations. There is no other park available in the area for people so we demand that the project be dropped,’ said Virender Kasana, congress councillor in South MCD. Kasana is also the chairman of ward committee in central zone.

The size of the park is around 11,500 sqm on which officers’ flats, including the flat of the commissioner, are being planned by the corporation. ‘This is the only available space for residents of CR Park, GK-II, Alaknanda and DDA Flats Kalkaji and adjoining areas,’ added Kasana. He also has written a letter written to Lieutenant Governor of Delhi demanding to scrap the project.
