University of Delhi (DU) whose academic session began on Monday didn’t end to be the first day of session for many teachers here. Confusion over appointment of ad-hoc teachers in DU prevailed even after the letter sent by UGC asking principals to re-engage teachers on the opening day.
‘The letter by UGC is just a sham. They could have sent the letter earlier. Why did they send the letter on Monday? We got information after noon about the letter.
‘According to a clause followed by the University, we have to join before noon. Since we got the letter late, we couldn’t join today (Monday),’ said Savita Khan, Professor, DU. Though teachers were unhappy over the timings and obscurity of the letter, principals are of opinion that no action can be taken without DU’s approval.
‘Let the university take decision on this and we will act accordingly,’ said SP Aggarwal, principal, Ramanujan College, DU.
