Colonies’ regularisation to get simpler

The complex issue of regularisation of unauthorised colonies in Delhi is set to become simple and smooth, according to the Gazette Notification, issued on Wednesday, by Delhi Development Authority [DDA].

As per the Gazette Notification, regulations for regularisation have been amended to authorise the city government to finalise the boundaries of each identified colony having more than 50 per cent built up area, by super-imposing the satellite and aerial survey images as obtained in 2007 instead of 2002. It has also been clarified that in case colony boundary happens to run along any physical features such as drains, roads, railway lines,
nallahs
and by lanes as interpreted in the satellite images, the boundaries shall be fixed along the above mentioned physical feature.

After fixing the boundaries on the basis of images in 2007 the government will forward the layout plan to the local body concerned. Simultaneously, the government will issue orders regularising the colony as per the boundaries fixed after completing other formalities.

It has also been mentioned in the Gazette Notification that thereafter DDA will affect change in land use and concerned local body shall approve the layout plan.

Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit and Delhi UD Minister, AK Walia on Thursday while appreciating the gesture of the Union UD Minister expressed confidence that the pace of regularisation of colonies in Delhi will get desired momentum resulting in substantial relief to the residents of unauthorised colonies.

Further, the residents will be able to enjoy civic amenities as being provided in regularised and planned colonies.
