Cold wave claims 4 in S Bengal

Four people have died in Purulia district due to extreme cold in the past three days as cold wave-like condition swept through south Bengal districts.
The weather office in Purulia said entire south Bengal was reeling under cold wave-like condition and the minimum temperature was between 2 and 5 degrees Celsius in the past three days.
Mercury dropped to 2 degrees Celsius in hilly areas of Purulia district like Ayodhya and Joychandi on Monday, while in urban areas of Purulia district, the temperature was between 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.
Purulia superintendent of police Rakesh Kumar said the four dead were beggars and they had died on the roads in Purulia district due to the extreme cold.
