‘Coalition impractical, BJP will come to power in Bihar’

“An impractical coalition has been formed to oust us from Bihar. I am sure we, along with our allies, will come to power in the state,” he said.

While addressing a press conference to highlight the achievements of NDA government in the last one year, Jaitley said: “We are hopeful that Bihar would be the next state, where we will form the government with allies.”

“There are some understandings between the political parties in Bihar to keep the BJP away. I consider this alliance impractical, because it is an alliance of those who have sent their other partner to jail,” he said, hinting towards RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for having joined hands with Janata Dal (United).

Claiming that the BJP has become the central pole of Indian politics, Jaitley said that the NDA government has restored credibility, dignity and stature of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), which was lowered by UPA government.

“The Prime Minister now enjoys the last word, which was not there during the previous regime. Our government has put an end to the environment of pessimism in the country. Corruption has been replaced by transparent governance and crony capitalism by liberal policy,” he said.

On the context of West Bengal government and the Trinamool Congress stand on the Land Acquisition Bill, he said: “There should not be any confusion that we are politically opposed. But there are some constitutional obligations, which we have to follow and we will continue to support West Bengal. This, we are doing with other states as well. One should not mix constitutional relationship and political opposition and I have not assumed that they will support the Bill.”

He also congratulated Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa and wished her all the best.

Replying to the Opposition’s dig on party promises to bring “Acchhe Din”, he said that corruption-free governance, raising the stature of the country to international standards, bettering the country’s economic sentiments, are all indicators of good days.

When asked about the challenges faced by the government, he said: “The global economic situation, the agrarian situation and rising domestic investments are some of the challenges, which need to be addressed immediately.”

Union Minister and party leader Ananth Kumar, who was also present in the press meet said: “The Prime Minister will launch DD Kisan channel on May 26 as the NDA government completes one year on that day. The party has decided to hold 200 big rallies and 5,000 public meetings to publicise the NDA government’s works,” he said.
