CM to launch scheme to grant ownership rights to residents of resettlement colonies

Ahead of assembly polls in November, the Delhi government is going to be organise a mammoths rally at the Yamuna Sports Complex in east Delhi on 10 September to launch a scheme that will grant ownership rights certificates to original allottees in 45 resettlement colonies which were developed during 1960-80.
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday called a meeting of all the Congress MLAs of the national capital in Delhi Secretariat in this regard. Sources said the chief minister asked all the legislators to work together to make the 10 September rally successful.

‘The MLAs were asked to ensure a huge gathering at the function. Dikshit has asked the legislators to pull up their socks for the upcoming assembly elections,’ said a source.
Rahul Gandhi will be the chief guest at the rally and will distribute the certificates to the allottees.

The move would benefit around 7 lakh families that were allotted plots varying from 25 to 8 square yards on licence basis.
These 45 resettlement colonies were allotted during former prime minister Indira Gandhi’s period, but residents are still lack basic amenities.
The resettlement colonies are situated in different parts of the city including Sriniwaspuri, Wazirpur, Satya Niketan, Janakpuri Pankha Road and Madangir.
