The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold a meeting with all the three mayors of the Delhi Municipal Corporation on Saturday. The mayors are expected to demand a grant from the Delhi government to settle the financial crunch that the corporations are facing. North MCD mayor Yogender Chandolia, South MCD mayor Khushi Ram Chunar and East MCD mayor Meenakshi are supposed to meet the CM at 11 am.
The meeting will take place at the CM’s office. Notably, East Delhi mayor Meenakshi had said that despite requesting the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for a meeting to discuss the financial condition of the Corporation, he had not given them any time. She said that she has been calling the Chief Minister’s office since February 16, to seek time to deliberate upon the financial crunch that the East MCD has been facing. She said that due to the ongoing financial woes, the EDMC has not been able to pay salaries to its staff, pensions to retired employees for the previous month and old-age pension/widow pension for the last 22 months.
She further added that the Chief Minister is unable to understand the urgency of the matter and has not given time to meet and discuss it.
