CM meets Union power minister

To resolve the issue of power tariff hike and to ask for a bailout package for Delhi electricity distributions companies, Delhi Chief Minister  Sheila Dikshit met with Union Power Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday.

According to the Chief Minister’s office Dikshit’s talk with  Scindia was very fruitful. She would soon send detailed proposals to the Union Power Ministry.

A few days ago, Power watch dog Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission had sent a statutory advice to Delhi government to talk to the Union power Ministry about allowing these discoms benefits under government-sponsored schemes and a bailout package for discoms, which are in a precarious financial condition.

BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna and Tata Power Delhi are running in losses.  Dikshit said if power tariff were not hiked, the Discoms will not be able to supply uniterrupted power.
