CM lays foundation stone for DTC terminal renovation

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday laid the foundation stone for the renovation of a DTC Bus Terminal at Mehrauli.

Speaking on the occasion, Dikshit said that the government, as well as the Delhi Transport Corporation, is committed to provide reliable and efficient bus services to its commuters. She added that more low-floor AC and non-AC buses are being added to the DTC fleet and there will be no scarcity of buses for Delhiites.

Dikshit claimed that her government has been striving to provide world-class infrastructure in the city.

The transport scenario has undergone a sea-change with the introduction of Delhi Metro services, AC and Non-AC low-floor buses,flyovers, underpasses and FOBs. ‘Our government believes in working for the masses. We have regularised more than 900 colonies apart from opening transaction in recently authorised colonies,’ she said, adding that Delhi has become a medical tourism hub as it provides the best surgery and treatment at reasonable rates.

Meanwhile, the transport department moved a proposal to merge the Mehrauli Terminal with the Lado Sarai Terminal. Transport minister Ramakant Goswami said that with the renovation of this bus terminal, approximately 5 lakh residents of the area would be benefited and they would also be able to take buses for different venue from one point.
