Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has slammed the Central Government on imposition of President Rule in bordering district of Arunachal Pradesh.
“The President Rule in Arunachal. Advani ji (BJP veteran L K Advani) was right in saying that there are emergency like conditions in the country,” said Kejriwal in a tweet immediately after the announcement of President’s rule in the bordering state. AAP has been critical of the Central government’s move to impose President’s Rule in the state and even openly expressed apprehensions that the Central government may adopt similar ‘strategy’ to interfere in the non-BJP ruled states.
“AAP clearly states that BJP-led Central government’s politically intolerant attitude needs to be strongly rebuffed to safeguard the federal structure of the Constitution.
“The AAP is confident that the Union Cabinet’s decision, which is in complete violation of the Supreme Court judgement in SR Bommai case that stated strength of any government can only be tested
on the floor of the House, will not withstand judicial scrutiny and should definitely be defeated in the Rajya Sabha,” said AAP in a press statement.
The party further opined that the Union Cabinet’s decision reveals the anti-federal character of the Central government and proves that all its slogans about ‘cooperative federalism’ are nothing but misleading words disguised to impose its real agenda of political intolerance.
The AAP also made a call to all the democratic forces of the country to ensure that such dictatorial moves of the BJP are opposed tooth and nail to save democracy in the country.
