Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal received and Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to each other on the occasion of Holi. The initiative came from Modi who followed him on twitter and Kejriwal also responded saying “thank you sir” and put forward some demands for Delhi.
“All the bills passed by Delhi Assembly are stuck in Union Home Ministry. I request you to get them passed. Delhi will be obliged to you,” said Kejriwal to the PM in Hindi. “Thanks for following me. Today is the day to forget differences and celebrate the festival,” he said in an earlier tweet.
The Delhi Chief Minister has over 7.3 million followers on Twitter and follows 147 persons. On the other hand, Modi has 18.8 million followers and follows 1,371 persons. Kejriwal, usually at odds with the PM, on Holi reached out to him on Twitter and wished Happy Holi.
The Aam Aadmi Party chief said he hoped for better Centre-Delhi cooperation in the future.
Since Kejriwal took over as Delhi Chief Minister following a massive victory in February last year, both the leaders had been on a prolonged feud except Modi wishing Kejriwal on his birthday.
Kejriwal always directly blames Modi for all the ‘misdeeds’ committed in Delhi. The most furious was Kejriwal calling PM Modi a “psychopath” after CBI conducted raids in his office in December for which he is facing court case.
Kejriwal is the second most followed politician in the country.
Active on Twitter since 2009, PM Modi is also the second-most followed politician in the world, right after US President Barack Obama.
PM Modi has used twitter for initiatives like Make In India, Swachh Bharat, Mann Ki Baat and Selfie With Daughter to reach and connect with the citizens for development and progress. The PM has also recently asked his MPs to reach out to the public and society through social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook and publicise the achievements of his government.
