CM ignoring plight of calamity-affected people: BJP

BJP’s Himachal Pradesh unit on Sunday came down heavily on chief minister Virbhadra Singh, alleging that he was camping at Delhi with his ministers to ‘save his chair’ ignoring the plight of the people affected by excessive rains, flood, landslides and other calamities.

In a statement issued here, BJP spokesman Ganesh Dutt said, ‘The CM is bothered more about his own case listed for hearing in Delhi High Court on 20 August while there is no one to take care of the calamity-affected people.’

Claiming more than 25 people have been killed in rain-related incidents, Dutt said villages are sinking, several areas have been cut off, landslides and floods have caused extensive damage, houses and cowsheds have collapsed and agricultural lands washed away, but the government has turned a blind eye. Political uncertainty has gripped the state as Congress leaders, those supporting the CM and those against him, have been camping in Delhi lobbying against each other, he claimed.
