CM Dikshit encourages RWAs to install CCTVS

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit stressed on the need to install CCTVs in residential areas on Sunday. She was speaking at the second RWAs (Resident Welfare Association) workshop on Time-BOUND Delivery of services' at Talktora Stadium. Around 4000 office bearers of 910 RWAs from north-west and west revenue districts participated in Sunday’s workshop.

The Chief Minister, while referring to the issues raised by the office bearers of different RWAs, stated that interested RWAs are free to get installed CCTVs from the ‘My Delhi I Care Fund’ in their respective colonies but they will have to take Delhi police into confidence.

The city government after the brutal gang rape of a 23-year-old in the capital on 16 December, 2012, had established a round-the-clock helpline, 181, for women in distress.  Dikshit requested RWAs to have an effective coordination with Delhi police on this issue.

Dikshit exhorted people to avail time-bound delivery of services. A total of 116 services of 24 departments have been included for hassle-free delivery of services to people across the city. Dikshit added that Delhi was the first state to enact an act on electronic service-level agreement (e-SLA).  She asked applicants to seek compensation for delayed services. The compensation fixed at Rs 10 for each day of delay will be collected from errant officers. Dikshit claimed that the introduction of e-SLA has brought a change in the work culture of government employees who have come to understand the importance of time-bound delivery of services.
Dikshit also referred to the Bhagidari initiative of her government.
