CM asks officials to plan state-wide Formation Day celebration

The hilly state of Uttarakhand is gearing up to have a double celebration during this festive season. The state will start rejoicing with the Formation Day on November 9, followed by Diwali and other festivals. Taking this as a pride moment for the state, CM Harish Rawat has asked government officials not to confine the celebration to the Capital city (Dehradun) only. The state was was carved out of Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000.   

“The state is soon going to rejoice 15 years of its formation. On the Formation Day, the celebration program will be dedicated to the native culture. On the occasion, Various competitions on state culture and local cuisines will be the main attraction,” CM Harish Rawat said here on Tuesday. He directed officials of state cultural department during a meeting on Tuesday.
