Class XII student allegedly raped in Gzb multiplex

A class XII student of a private school has allegedly been raped in a multiplex in Sihani Gate area of Ghazibad on Saturday. Police said that the accused is one of the staff  members, identified as Abhishek Sharma, working in the theatre and was known to the victim. The 18-year-old was raped after she was administered sedatives as she had gone to the multiplex to watch a movie. After conducting a medical test, the police have registered a case and the accused has been arrested. The police are investigating the negligence on the part of the multiplex authority as the incident took place inside the theatre and the cops have given assurances to initiate penal action if found guilty.

Police said that the incident took place at the multiplex, Movie World, when the victim had gone to watch a film on the request of her friend Abhishek. 

In the middle of the show, Abhishek had offered fast food to the girl laid with sedatives. As the victim went unconscious, Sharma took her to another theatre where he committed the crime. When the girl gained consciousness, she found herself  alone and in an inebriated condition. She immediately rushed to her residence where she narrated the incident to her family which later approached the concerned police station late on Saturday night.

On complaint lodged by the family, police conducted medical examination of the girl following which Sharma, working as an executive at the Movie World, was arrested from the multiplex. 

The girl, in her complaint, said the accused, a resident of Badalpur village in Greater Noida, was known to her for the past one month and had offered to watch a movie in the theatre. “He called me to watch a movie together. Although I was watching the film alone, he followed me and raped me after giving sedatives,” the victim said. 

Investigating Officer (IO), Anek Singh Yadav, said they have arrested the accused and are investigating the matter. He also said that role of multiplex authority is being probed and if found to be guilty of negligence, action will be initiated against them too. “Although both were known to each other, it’s a serious crime. We have slapped appropriate charges on Sharma and are scanning his previous criminal records also,” said the IO.
