Class X student raped by cousin, friends; accused absconding

The victim lives with family at Dallupura and studies in a government school at New Ashok Nagar. The incident was reported to police after the girl told about the assault to her father.
The police said the incident took place after the girl left home for school on Wednesday morning. ‘It is alleged that she was kidnapped by Rahul, Pradeep and Amit from near her school in a car,’ a police officer said.
The trio then took the girl to a house in Sarojini Nagar and took turns to rape her. ‘She was later dropped back near her school after which she returned home,’ the officer added.
Her mother questioned her when she found her upset, but the victim did not say anything. But when her father inquired, she narrated the incident to him.
Her father immediately approached police after which she was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for a medical examination. ‘It confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted,’ a source said.
A case of kidnapping and gang rape has been filed based on the victim’s statement and medical report with New Ashok Nagar police station. The accused also faced charges under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The police managed to hunt down the house in Sarojini Nagar, but found it locked. Investigators have gathered information about the accused, but are still trying to trace their location using mobile phone surveillance. ‘Further investigations are in process,’ said a police official.
