Class VIII student dies under mysterious circumstances

A 14-year-old student of the Government Boys’ Senior Secondary School in Rohini died under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday. The police have ruled out that the victim died after allegedly being assaulted by a teacher or any kind of fight with someone.
The reason behind the death of 14-year-old, Sanjay, has not be ascertained by the police yet. The school authorities rushed him to a nearby hospital and a call to the police control room was made by the hospital authorities. By the time the police team and his family members reached the hospital, he was declared dead, said a police official.
According to sources, the victim died after allegedly being assaulted physically by a teacher. His family has accused the school authorities of severe negligence. They said Sanjay was fit and healthy when he had left for school in the morning.
After the lunch break, they received a call from the school that something had happened to the victim and he was being rushed to the Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospital, said sources. He further said, by the time the family reached the hospital, Sanjay was already declared dead. A police official also said that preliminary investigations make it seem like the victim suffered from an epileptic attack, for which he was taken to the hospital and that is where he breathed his last.
‘Witnesses said that the victim fell in the classroom, and when the teacher and other students had come to his aid, he was seen trembling and holding his tongue between his teeth,’ said the official.
However, police ruled out all probabilities of any physical assault for the time being as there was no clear witness or evidence to support that allegation.
‘We went to the school and interrogated the teachers and other students. None of them mentioned any fight or assault as such,’ said Vikramjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer). He further stated that the victim’s body has been sent for post mortem and once the report is out on Thursday, the picture would be clear.
