Civic bodies unable to provide winter clothing to students

As winter made its mark in the city on Monday, three local civic bodies rushed to primary school students in their schools with cash to protect them from cold. These corporations had promised the provision of winter clothes to students in this winter session but failed to complete the process on time. ‘The tender process could not be completed on time, so we are providing Rs 500 cash to every student studying in our primary schools,’ said P K Gupta, commissioner North DMC. The proposal was cleared immediately in the meeting of the standing committee and commissioner was directed to complete the distribution of money within three days. ‘Despite our best efforts the bureaucracy could not complete the process. Furthermore the work came to a standstill after implementation of the model code of conduct,’ said Ram Kishan Singhal, chairman of the standing committee, approving the proposal.
