Civic bodies, DDA celebrate Yoga Day

The event was celebrated at every nook and corner of the Capital where senior functionaries along with locals performed yoga.
The SDMC organised its main function to celebrate International Yoga Day at Khatu Shyam Stadium Hari Nagar wherein more than 400 students from MCD primary schools displayed their excellence in more than 25 different asanas in a disciplined manner.
Apart from this, a number of Councillors, large number of senior officers and employees of the SDMC also joined children in displaying various asanas.
North Delhi Municipal Corporation, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, organised a mass yoga session at Ajmal Khan Park, Karol Bagh. On this occasion, Mayor Sanjeev Nayyar said yoga has given a new identity to the nation at the world platform, and now people across the globe understand its importance.
East Delhi Municipal Corporation conducted a mass yoga session on Tuesday at Yamuna Sports Complex. EDMC Mayor Satya Sharma said yoga is a means to connect one with his own self. She said that yoga is beneficial not only for physical well-being but also for mental elevation.
She said that today being International Yoga Day stands testimony to the acceptance of the philosophy world over.
Delhi Development Authority celebrated International Day of Yoga on Tuesday at all its Sports Complexes, at District Park in Dwarka and at the Swarn Jayanti Park, Rohini.
This event was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush. Participation from all nearby residents and members of the respective sports complexes was allowed. More than 10,500 people participated at various sports complexes.
In addition, thousands of residents participated at District Park and at Swarn Jayanti Park, Rohini. Vice Chairman, DDA, Arun Goel participated in the event at the District Park.
