Reeling under intense heat and high humidity, the national capital may be praying for rains but the city’s civic agencies are fearing it. They are scared of the possibility of water logging woes returning to haunt them once the Monsoon starts to pour rains.
The three civic bodies, Public Works Department (PWD) and Flood Department of the Delhi government are grappling with lack of staff, equipments and more importantly coordination which has led to a blame game.
Though all these agencies are facing flack from Delhi government and public representatives for a shoddy job, the worst situation is in the area of flood department which has the responsibility to clean 18 big drains which finally open into the river Yamuna.
Millennium Post visited one such drain called Kirari drain and found it overflowing even on Tuesday, without any rain.
