City’s female ratio rises to 898 against 1,000 males

In a report released on Wednesday, Delhi deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia informed that 1,025 kids were born in Delhi in the year 2015 per day. As average number of deaths in Delhi is 341 per day, the net natural increase in population of Delhi is 684 per day and 2.50 lakh in a year.
“The sex ratio at birth in Delhi increased from 896 females per thousand males in 2014 to 898 in 2015,” said Manish Sisodia releasing the data prepared by Directorate of Economics & Statistics. As per the data, a total of 3,74,012 births were registered in Delhi in 2015 which is 319 births more than the previous year.
“Out of the total births registered, 52.7 per cent are male and 47.3 per cent are females. The birth rate reduced from 20.9 per thousand population in 2014 to 20.5 in 2015,” added Sisodia. The maximum 34.99 per cent births were registered in North MCD, 31.80 per cent in South MCD, 20.35 per cent in East MCD, 11.92 per cent in NDMC and 0.94 per cent in Cantonment Board Area. The average number of births per day in 2015 was one more than 2014.
The percentage of institutional births increased from 82.83 per cent in 2014 to 84.41 per cent in 2015. “Out of 3.16 lakh institutional births, about 67.2 per cent births occurred in government hospitals in 2015 as compared to 66.4 per cent births in 2014,” he added. The number of mothers in the age groups 20-24 years and 25-29 years were highest at 38 per cent each while only 15.3 per cent mothers were above 30 years.
“Infant Mortality Rate in Delhi decreased from 25 per thousand live births in 2012 to 24 in 2013 and then 20 in 2014 as per Sample Registration System (SRS),” added Sisodia.
