City to see heavy rain in the next two days

Heavy showers are expected across north India, including Delhi, in the next two days that will compensate the deficit rainfall so far, the Met Office and private weather forecaster <g data-gr-id="19">Skymet</g> said on Tuesday.

“The northern states of Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh shall see heavy showers in the coming two days,” Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) official Charan Singh said.

<g data-gr-id="21">Skymet</g> also had the same weather prediction for north India. <g data-gr-id="22">Skymet</g> chief GP Sharma said that they are expecting “good showers” all across the country, especially north India, over the next couple of days. Sharma added the “large deficiency” of rainfall faced by Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and other north Indian states so far will be compensated in the coming days.

The north and northwestern parts of the country experienced about 7 <g data-gr-id="15">percent</g> deficit in rainfall till June 23, Sharma said.

Till June 23 the country, mostly western, central and southern India, received about 136.4 mm of rainfall, more than the normal of 110.8 mm — contributing to a 23 percent surplus of rainfall.
