Minor killed over kite flying
A 16-year-old died after being thrashed by four minors over kite flying, police said on Sunday. The victim’s friend was also beaten up. The incident occurred in east Delhi’s Harsh Vihar Saturday around 7.30 pm. Rajan and Dinesh were rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where the former was declared dead. ‘The culprits will be apprehended soon,’ said a police officer.
Retired ACP commits suicide
A retired assistant commissioner of police allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a licensed revolver at his house at sector 13 in Rohini. Neighbours said Satbir Dahiya had been living alone for the past 18 months after he separated with his wife. Neighbours also confirmed that Dahiya was under stress. No suicide note was, however, recovered from the spot.
Japanese national robbed
A Japanese businessman was allegedly robbed off by a youth, who first befriended him when he got down at the Delhi airport, and then fled with his cash after giving him beverage mixed with sedative. MA Bhavsu, who had come to India two days ago, said when he gained consciousness, he found himself at Noida Sector-18 near Poorvanchal construction, police said.
Three robbers arrested with factory goods
Three persons were on Sunday arrested with nine quintals of zinc slabs and eight kilograms of copper wire stolen from a factory here, police said. The three arrested have been identified as Irfan, Habbal and Firoze, they said. Police had received a tip-off that they were going to sell the goods which were stolen from a factory here a week ago. On interrogation, it was revealed that they are part of an inter-state gang of robbers consisting of 11 members.
Two nabbed for burglary, house theft in South Delhi
With the arrest of two persons, police on Sunday claimed to have cracked 12 cases of burglary and house thefts in Kalkaji area of south Delhi. Stolen goods worth over Rs 10 lakh was also recovered. 22-year-old Vikram, a resident of 24 Pargana in West Bengal, was arrested along with his landlord Gopal Mandal, to whom he used to sell most of the stolen property, police said.
