CBSE ties up with Trinity College to train teachers
The Central Board of Secondary Education will train teachers for the implementation of the Assessment of Speaking and Listening (ASL) skills in collaboration with Trinity College, London, an official said Tuesday. ASL has been introduced in all CBSE-affiliated schools for Class 9 and Class 11 in an effort to integrate English language in the curriculum.

Tandoor case: verdict reserved
The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its verdict on the plea of former Youth Congress leader Sushil Sharma, who has challenged the death sentence awarded to him in the Naina Sahni murder case, also known as Tandoor case. He was given death sentence for murdering his wife Naina Sahni on suspicion that she was having an extra-marital affair. A three-judge bench comprising of Chief Justice P Sathasivam, Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai and Justice Ranjan Gogoi concluded the hearing on Sharma’s petition. His counsel said that the case did not fall in the rarest of rare category. 

Suspected liquor smugglers held
The motorcycle-borne suspected liquor smugglers, who knocked down a Delhi police constable on Tuesday, were arrested on Tuesday. ‘Constable Jaswinder Singh Mann, 35, tried to stop the mobike-rider Narender, 19, at Lampur border check post in Outer Delhi’s Narela area on Tuesday morning but the motorcyclist knocked him down,’ police said. ‘The accused were crossing the border with liquor bottles and to avoid arrest they tried to speed away after hitting the constable’, said a police officer.

Two Delhi university students charred to death 
Two students of Delhi University were burnt to death on Tuesday when their car caught fire after colliding with a stationary truck on National Highway 1 in Haryana, police said. Witnesses told police that the victims died inside the burning car while another person was pulled out and rushed to a hospital in Sonipat. The accident took place near Kundli, 45 km from New Delhi.

Tax inspector jailed
A tax inspector of Delhi government has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by a court here for accepting Rs 4,500 from a cable service provider who had entertainment tax dues. Special CBI Judge Manoj Jain sentenced Krishan Sharawat to two years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. Sharawat, the then inspector of Entertainment Tax Department, was apprehended in a trap laid by CBI on a complaint of one Harjeet Singh in 2007.
