Citizens concerned over Ebola epidemic

In the wake of rising concerns over Ebola, people in Delhi and NCR have called in large numbers on the helpline launched by the union health ministry seeking information about symptoms and preventive measure for the disease. The helpline was launched by the government on Friday.
Expressing satisfaction with the reaction of the general public to the awareness campaign launched by the government, union health minister Harsh Vardhan said, ‘Most callers to the helpline reflected a mature understanding of the collective responsibility in times like this. They wanted to know about the symptoms and preventive measures.’
In a precautionary measure to deal with Ebola, health ministry opened a 24-hour ‘emergency operation centre’ which became functional from Saturday in the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
