A day after the huge security lapse in Delhi airport on Wednesday, where a mentally-challenged teenager went for a morning walk on an active runway, the CISF on Thursday said that they have initiated an inquiry into the matter.
The incident stands recorded on CCTV and clearly explains how the young boy managed to enter the airport near the Kapashera crossing that leads from National Highway 8 to Dwarka. The incident took place around 4.50 in the morning.
It was only after security personnel were deputed on the runway, to ward off birds, did they spot the intruder, who was eventually stopped.
Despite earlier warnings to the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) to rectify the errors of ‘Perimeter Intrusion Detection System’ (PIDS), CISF has not taken back the charge of PIDS from DIAL. ‘CISF has ordered an enquiry. We will investigate that how such lapse happened at IGI airport. Enquiry will submit their report as soon as possible and if we find any lapse, we will take strict action’, said CISF PRO, Hemendera Singh.
